William J. Gedwed William J. Gedwed has served as President and CEO of the Company since July 1, 2003, and as Chairman of the Board since September 7, 2005. He has served as a Director of the Company since June 2000 and is a member of the Executive, Privacy, and Investment Committees of the Board of Directors. Mr. Gedwed serves as a Director and Chairman of the Board of Directors of The MEGA Life and Health Insurance Company, Mid-West National Life Insurance Company of Tennessee, The Chesapeake Life Insurance Company and Fidelity First Insurance Company. He joined UICI in 1997 when the Company acquired NMC Holdings, Inc., parent company of National Motor Club of America, Inc. He was President and CEO of NMC Holdings and National Motor Club from 1993 until June 2000, when the Company sold NMC Holdings. Mr. Gedwed resigned his position as Executive Vice President of the Company in January 2001 to become President and CEO of NMC Holdings and Chairman, President and CEO of National Motor Club. Mr. Gedwed received his B.S. in 1980 from the University of Houston and his MBA in 1992 from the University of Houston.
